About Muhammad Zaki

I'm a Senior Full Stack Engineer from Pakistan with 8 years of building things on the web that actually work at scale. My roots are in WordPress, and I've grown well beyond it.
I design extensible WordPress architectures, build serverless AWS middleware that syncs data between WordPress and CRMs and between CRMs.
I also specialize in creating headless WordPress systems powering apps and dashboards.
8 years of experience, A commitment to growth.
From junior level WordPress customizations to enterprise systems serving millions, here's how I got here.
- ●Developed features and maintained consistent performance for enterprise WordPress architectures serving millions of users.
- ●Helped streamline content publishing by creating custom Gutenberg blocks, enabling editors to build complex layouts more easily and in less time. Over one quarter, this led to an 18% reduction in time spent on content creation.
- ●Designed and implemented a caching strategy (transients + object caching) that improved page load times by 30% while reducing server load under high traffic.
- ●Built a LaunchDarkly integration plugin for controlled feature rollouts across a multisite architecture.
- ●Created a design system by configuring Tailwind and SCSS based on Figma designs, maintaining consistent styling and color schemes across custom blocks and themes.
- ●Contributed to a live web-based creator platform integrated with Telegram, where creators can publish and monetize content for Telegram audiences.
- ●Integrated age and identity verification for compliance and user safety to ensure a secure and compliant platform.
- ●Implemented real-time, region-based tax calculation using Ondato and Quaderno.
- ●Resolved issues in real-time chat and media vault delivery for a smoother creator and subscriber experience.
- ●Designed event-driven serverless middleware (AWS Lambda, SQS, API Gateway) to sync data between CRMs and between WordPress and CRMs, improving consistency and reducing manual ops.
- ●Designed modular content architectures and extensible APIs using WordPress as a headless CMS.
- ●Developed custom REST API methods and endpoints for React.js frontends across multiple client projects.
- ●Delivered theme and plugin customization tailored to each client's requirements.
- ●Ensured security by validating and sanitizing all database and API inputs, preventing SQL injection, and maintaining high code quality standards.
- ●Developed a WooCommerce extension for the Ebizcharge payment gateway, integrated with Gutenberg blocks, and provided extensible hooks for seamless implementation across custom themes.
- ●Created WordPress architecture (post types, taxonomies, meta structures) for customised CMS solutions.
- ●Managed development of websites using premium themes and plugins.
- ●Created custom REST API methods and endpoints for exposure of secure data to mobile apps.
- ●Small-scale headless CMS development using WordPress REST API and jQuery.
- ●API integrations.
- ●Theme customization.
- ●Plugin customization.
- ●Custom plugin development.
- ●Extended functionality of premium plugins including ACF, Gravity Forms, and WooCommerce.
- ●Technical support (fixing bugs, errors, and minor CSS and JS modifications).
Studied algorithms, computer architecture, databases, OOP, and operating systems. Built the foundation that makes everything else make sense.
Work that shaped my experience
I've worked on many projects that reflect the depth and quality of my experience, but these two stand out because they shaped how I work in Agile and Scrum environments and strengthened the skills I rely on every day.
Built AWS Lambda middleware for automated data sync in two directions: WordPress ↔ CRM (Salesforce, GoHighLevel, Sheep, Arlo) and CRM ↔ CRM (Salesforce ↔ GoHighLevel, Arlo ↔ Sheep). Used Amazon SQS where payloads were large or slow to avoid timeouts.
Redesigned seven WordPress/Gutenberg sites for a leading US care marketplace. Custom blocks, caching strategy, editor workflows, and design-system alignment, 10 months on a platform serving millions.
Growing beyond WordPress
A new direction for me. Fangram is a deep product work on a live Node.js and React.js platform.

AI adoption is a real benefit but when it comes to your own skills and knowledge, it can create a false sense of understanding.
Why are many WordPress developers paid less?
After 8+ years with WordPress, I don't think the platform is the problem the market often can't tell a WordPress user from a WordPress engineer.
